The financial impact of failed conveyor idlers is no secret, with many sites reporting it to be one of the leading causes of downtime leading to production loss. With this in mind PDS have design a class leading Idler Management tool. When we look at the cost/benefit gains seen by our clients, using the software is the simplest of decisions.
The Idler management software is designed to replace and enhance many of the current manual systems employed by site. There will be no more lost tags or incorrectly entered information causing inconsistencies or delays. All faults that are logged are visible by key personnel immediately and rectification can be carried out in a more timely fashion.
Failure trending can be carried out allowing better planning of recourses and stocks. This enables better planning for the requirements of bulk change outs.
PDS have calculated that for the average site the labour and damage savings alone equate to approximately $30k per year per Km of belt. This does not include downtime savings or benefits seen from better resource planning.
Installation and access issues can be prepopulated for idler position allowing better pre planning of replacement should special equipment be required.
PDS Idler Management allows (and recommends) the use of a variety of inspections methods. PDS have experience in idler thermography, bearing sound monitoring (using the SKF Idler Sound monitor®) and can recommend idler management strategies to be used in conjunction with the software.
